October Volunteering

HCS Families,
As we step into October, we’re excited to share a variety of volunteer opportunities that will help strengthen our community and assist you in fulfilling your volunteer hour requirements.
Below is a list of available areas and jobs for the month:

1. Classroom Assistance:
  • 2nd-3rd Grade classroom assistant to help support all the one on one reading that these grade levels require

2. PTA/Fundraiser Meetings & Events:
  • Harvest Carnival (Oct 25 5pm-7pm). Looking for volunteers to create/build games, as well as run them the night of the carnival. (If an older HCS student would like to help you with this, or do this on their own, we will also count their time towards the volunteer hours needed)
  • Harvest Carnival Setup and/or Cleanup

3. Pizza Lunch:
  • Pick up Pizza at Little Caesars by 10:40 each Thursday
  • Serve Pizza each Thursday from 11am - 12:15pm.

4. Maintenance and Beautification:
we are already doing most of the items below, but I would love to have it done more often:
  • Clean those cobwebs. I would love a couple parents that can consistently clean the cobwebs on the outside of the building around the doors and windows, as well as indoors. We do this regularly, but I feel we cannot do this enough!
  • Sanitizing door handles (I would like to find a couple of people that we can rotate to do this on at least a weekly basis)
  • Sanitizing student chairs (1x per month)
  • Sweep the gym and lunchroom floor (1x per week)
  • Zamonie the gym and lunchroom floor- 2 hour job (1x per month)
  • Mop entrance ways & gym stairs (2x per month)
  • Build a lost and found unit
  • Build new benches for elementary bathrooms (to match the benches in the elementary entryway)

5. Needed Items:
We would appreciate any leads any of our families have for any used/good condition items listed below. We have them on our list to purchase, but also know that many of you have leads that we do not have within our community. The time/effort it takes to find these items will absolutely qualify as your volunteer hours requirement.
  • Fireproof/Water resistant locking file cabinet (ours has had a number of issues this year, and it is time to replace)
  • Commercial Fridge (would like to replace it in the next year or two)

If you’re interested in any of these opportunities or have questions, please reply to this email or call the school office at 541-567-3480.

Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. Together, we can make a positive impact!

Blessings,

Deniel Hardin
Administrator/Principal
